Week 5--Thing 10--Online image generators

This was a fun little exercise that did not take much time. Have you ever wondered what your cat is thinking when he has that peculiar look on his face? Even if you don't have a cat, you can relate to Garfield. He can treat Jon soooo badly, but that's what he's expected to do. Take a look at this image from comicstripgenerator.com. I can already visualize how I can enhance my PowerPoint presentations with one of these manipulated images--Doc.

Week 4--Thing 9--Locate school library related blogs or news feeds

As I progressed through this exercise, I realized the problem was not finding blogs or news feeds important to me, rather the problem was finding too many. I once heard a blog defined as an electronic soapbox. That was very evident in my travels through the sites suggested. Often more undocumented opinions than reliable and authoritative facts. I finally concentrated on sources familiar to me such as library periodicals and professional organizations. Most of these sources have an RSS icon that makes an easy task of adding it to your feed reader. As far as news feeds, all major publishers and broadcasters have an RSS icon to facilitate a quick addition to your reader. Now, all I have to do is make a habit of checking my feed reader on a regular basis--Doc.

Week 4--Thing 8--RSS Feeds

The exercise suggests using either Bloglines or Google Reader. Since I already have a My Yahoo account, I decided to add RSS feeds to my existing account. Many blogs, including those in School Library Journal, have a Yahoo icon to add RSS links directly to your account. My feeds are a mixture of news sources, technology blogs, and library-related blogs. The use of RSS feeds makes an easier task of keeping up with all the news and happenings in our profession--Doc.

Week 3--Thing 7--Technology is immediate and pervasive

Are you familiar with the term "nuke the fridge?" I was enlightened to its meaning after seeing installment four of Indiana Jones and talking to my daughter. She told me the term is just like Fonzie who "jumped the shark." Go to this site for clarification:
